History of Feta

Feta cheese is one of the oldest cheeses in the world.

Without refrigeration cheese made as many as 6000 years ago, spoiled easily. One of the only ways to preserve cheese was to preserve cheese with salt. Feta cheese is stored in baine and will not spoil easily.


Feta cheese is made with cows, goats or sheep's milk. It is manufactured mainly in Europe & North America. Milk produces different flavors of cheese. Goat feta makes for a strong game flavored product while Sheep's feta is strong & rich (high in fat). Cows feta has a milder flavor profile with excellent cooking properties
